I was getting so frustrated with myself this past weekend that I almost asked to go back to novice so I could work on this at a slower pace, but improving my pace is the whole reason I need to work on this and getting comfortable in the corners at higher speeds is my goal. You go deep into the corner so you have the straightest line out, how do you make that sudden direction change? Is it an abrupt counter steer? I'm still new to this so hard counter steering still makes me a little uncomfortable. My main question now is, how are the faster guys steering so quickly through a turn? Say you're coming up on a tight, almost 90 degree turn. I feel like it all comes down to my inability to get the bike steered because I simply don't know how. At the same time, my shallow lines are causing me to have to slow down mid corner and/or have to wait to get on the throttle to avoid running wide on exit. I watch the faster riders and the coaches and they seem to go way deeper into the corner than I do and when I try to match their approach, I end up running wide (or into the grass). My lines are good (but may need tweaked for my pace to improve) and I'm consistent, but I'm struggling hard to make any improvements in my cornering. I'm currently riding on the slow side of Intermediate One. This is my second year of riding track and have about 10 under my belt so far. Doesn't really roll off the tongue does it?
